The Buddy Bench
Imagine what it must feel like to be a child who has no one to play with, to talk to or to bond with at school recess.
Nationally, the Buddy Bench is successfully providing inclusion opportunities for children who may be shy, the new kid on the playground or have a disability. When a child sits on the bench, he or she is inviting a friend to play.
The Exchange Club of West St. Tammany is committed to building buddy benches to be placed in all elementary and middle schools in the parish in collaboration with St. Tammany Schools and Northshore Families Helping Families. Each school will be instrumental in the dedication, education, and ongoing purpose of the buddy bench. The Exchange Club members will build and deliver the benches. award winning projectThe National Exchange Club Texas/ Gulf Coast Region Most Outstanding Original Project

That bench, she thought, would be perfect for her son and his school, Pine View Middle School.
